This is all part of my ‘absolutely no plan/clue marketing strategy’ and it’s going as well as I expected so far… err, as in I’ve sold very little and nobody seems interested… maybe I should try and do something about that?
I did get a few sales on The Crazies, but I’m not sure what word-length people feel comfortable paying for. Hopefully if I get some downloads, good star ratings, good comments/reviews or a decent amount of likes etc for the two OtherWhare titles I have up there already it may persuade people to buy something in the future.
I’m going to have to concentrate on getting the visibility of this stuff up above zero!
Wouldn’t it be nice if I had at least one fan before I released the last book in the series?
That's the "fun" part, eh?
ReplyDeleteFun, fun, fun…
ReplyDeleteHey, I’ve just thought up a fool-proofed marketing strategy… Free Money… you pay .99c and I gift you $1.99… that would work right? Surely I must get some sales then ;)
Haha, I'll GIVE you money to buy my book! Please?
ReplyDeleteJust from what I've read, as I have no experience: It'll take some time to get started. Just make sure you're doing all the right things -- letting people know, getting to know people on kindleboards without necessarily plugging your book, but having it as your profile picture and your tag where allowed. Getting book reviews (which I know can take a long time), seeking out interviews, making a FB page and having a Twitter account.
Hopefully, eventually it will get read by people who then talk about your book and when you finally get a review, you might get a few sales from there.
Depending on your budget, you might want to check out a cover artist. I suggest Ronell D. Porter, who I believe will do a cover for under $100, and whom I intend to contact soon with a proposition.
Oh, and I don't know if you've read this post by Victorine or not, but I think it could be a useful read! I'm reading through it for some inspiration myself.

Yes, I’ve done or at least have started doing most of the things you are told to do, and that is an interesting thread by Victorine. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, everything moves slowly, I’m just trying to get the work and my name out there just now.
What feedback I’ve had could have been a lot worse, so hopefully a few more reviews and working on, e.r. exposing myself may result is some more interest ans eventually more sales.
Hi, I really liked your Otherwhere story and well......I have a couple rather weird questions about it:
ReplyDelete1. I felt really bad for the weasel messenger when he was crying. Since you're his creator and all, how do you think the weasel would react if I hugged him and licked those tears running down his snout and whiskers with my tongue to comfort him? I know this question sounds weird and all but keep in mind that I'm a furry (as in furry fandom) type of guy and I kind of have a "thing" with kissing/licking the tears of crying "anthros".
2. I know the weasel is nameless but if you gave a little character development to him, what would his name be/what would you name him?
I hope these questions don't weird you out TOO much. Anyway, I used to have a weasel fursona back when I was a teenager before I switched to a coyote fursona so I guess that's why I have gotten attached to your weasel messenger character. Well that and I have a soft spot for vulnerable characters. I also have Asperger's Syndrome so I can kinda get fixated on things....
